OakLeaf Clinics - Business Office has an exciting opportunity to join our growing team as a prior authorization representative.

OakLeaf Clinics is dedicated to providing our patients with compassion, trust, and a lifetime of individualized care. Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley.

Position Description

The representative will be responsible for and manage all aspects of the prior authorization process. Primarily obtaining insurance authorizations and verifying insurance benefits for patients that require authorizations for various medical procedures. This position is a full-time, hourly position that will report directly to the billing lead and be located on-site at our Business Office location in Eau Claire, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the prior authorization process
  • Verify insurance benefits for patients that require authorizations for various medical procedures.
  • Initiate authorization requests with insurance companies and government payers to obtain necessary information
  • Request, track, follow up, and secure prior authorizations prior to services being performed
  • Obtain necessary re-authorization for expiring authorizations
  • Contact referring physicians/departments for additional information as needed
  • Maintains an approachable and positive attitude when interacting with all levels of personnel in a rapidly changing environment
  • Execute special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management Technology preferred
  • Previous experience in a clinic setting is preferred
  • Medical coding and/or billing experience preferred
  • RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, and COC credentials preferred
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires effective customer relation skills and ability to organize and interpret data.
  • Multi-task quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Requires good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
