OakLeaf Clinics - Business Office is seeking a full-time coding specialist to join our expanding team. This position is on-site at 719 W Hamilton Ave, Suite B. Eau Claire, WI 54701 for the first six months and then may work hybrid.

Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley. 

Position description

As a coding specialist, you perform high-volume, accurate medical coding functions in a growing multi-specialty practice setting. You must possess the AHIMA or AAPC coding certification and be a CPT and ICD10 coding expert.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-volume, accurate medical coding functions
  • Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes to lab encounters
  • Assign evaluation and management CPT codes to clinic encounters
  • Complete data entry as needed for other clinic services
  • Flexible in completing other assigned work as needed

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have AHIMA or AAPC coding certification (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC)
  • 1 year of hands-on medical coding experience in a physician/professional fee coding in a clinic setting is preferred
  • Experience with Epic EHR preferred
  • Expertise in CPT and ICD10 coding
  • Knowledgeable in evaluation and management coding
  • Experience in lab coding
  • Clinical documentation improvement initiatives experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting (coding or billing) is preferred
  • Medical coding or billing experience preferred
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires the ability to organize and interpret data
  • Multi-task quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.

Physical demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Major activities of this job include sitting or standing for long periods and light physical effort performed on a level surface. The office involves carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and squatting. Use a computer and telephone and employ writing and organizational skills. Manual dexterity, mobility, and good vision, including near acuity, depth perception, and accommodation, are necessary for technical work.
