OakLeaf Clinics - Menomonie has an exciting opportunity to join our urgent care team as a part-time (24 hours/week) nurse practitioner or physician assistant in our urgent care center.

OakLeaf Clinics is dedicated to providing our patients with compassion, trust, and a lifetime of individualized care. Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley.

Position description

As a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, you would provide medical and educational services in collaboration with the physician. You may work with a wide range of patients and provide quality care, from maintenance and prevention to treating injury and illness. You will work within a cooperative department, utilizing teamwork with healthcare providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based medicine
• Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
• Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Dictate and document all patient interactions
• Notify the managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
• Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families

Qualifications

• Current nurse practitioner or physician assistant license in Wisconsin
• Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body
• Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
• Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology
• Sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
• Ability to maintain highly confidential information
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical demands

Major activities of this job include frequent walking, standing, and light physical effort performed on a level surface. Some carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and squatting are involved in the medical office. Use a computer and telephone and employ writing and organizational skills. Manual dexterity, mobility, and good vision that includes near acuity, depth perception, and accommodation are physical requirements necessary for technical work.
