OakLeaf Clinics - Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, and Menomonie has an exciting opportunity to join our urgent care team as a full-time nurse practitioner or physician assistant in our urgent care center. Time will be split between our urgent care locations in Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, and Menomonie.

Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley.

Position description

As a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, you would provide medical and educational services in collaboration with the physician. You may work with a wide range of patients and provide quality care, from maintenance and prevention to treating injury and illness. You will work within a cooperative department, utilizing teamwork with healthcare providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based medicine
  • Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
  • Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Dictate and document all patient interactions
  • Notify the managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
  • Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families

Qualifications

  • Current nurse practitioner or physician assistant license in Wisconsin
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology
  • Sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical demands

Major activities of this job include frequent walking, standing, and light physical effort performed on a level surface. The medical office involves carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and squatting. Use a computer and telephone and employ writing and organizational skills. Manual dexterity, mobility, and good vision, including near acuity, depth perception, and accommodation, are necessary for technical work.
